It is located 170 meters above sea level, on top of the Sierra Cabrera, on the east side of Almería province in Andalucia. Composed of two areas: Mojácar Playa (Mojácar beach) and Mojácar Pueblo (Mojácar City).
Travelling to Mojácar from Orihuela Costa
There are to options to travel to Mojácar from Orihuela Costa:
- The fastest route is getting on the AP-7 for approximately for 155 kilometers taking exit 525. If you choose this option you must know that there is a toll to pay.
- The cheapest route, no tolls, is getting on the RM-19 with direction to Murcia switching to the A-7 near Alcantarilla. You need to take same exit (525) as both roads merge in the last kilometers.
Last 16 kilometers are done trhough a country road.
What to see in Mojácar

Beaches
Its beaches are one of the main attractions. In addition, 7 kilometers from the 17 that cover the tourist and virgin beaches have been awarded with the Blue Flag, that is why Mojácar is undoubtedly worth a visit.
Mora Fountain
This source is the place where the last governor of Arab origin surrendered to the Catholic kings peacefully. You must take your time to analyze its memorable plate located above the 12 jets of water.
Next to this symbolic fountain is the Mojácar Modern Contemporary Art Center, which was inaugurated in 2010.
City Gate
The original Mojácar City Gate was built during the 16th century. It is adorned with the symbol of it: an eagle with two heads.
In addition, its square and the town hall are adorned with Indalo shaped tiles throughout. And in the center is an old Benjaminite ficus that was carried by an American migrant.
Church of Santa María
This church is a great cultural heritage of Mojácar. It is located next to the Plaza del Parterre and thanks to its peculiar structure you can remember a fortress.
La mojaquera statue
In the square in front of the Church of Santa María you have the possibility to contemplate the Statue of La Mojaquera, a sculpture made of marble that honors the local women.

The main square and the balcony
A place very visited by tourists is the main square of Mojácar, this is because there are plenty of comfortable and pleasant bars to drink or have lunch.

The Canana House museum
If you like antiques and want to know how the residents of Mojácar lived at the beginning of the 20th century, then you should go to the Casa de la Canana Museum.
It was founded in 2018 and has 200 square meters where the typical atmosphere of the Mojaqueras houses of previous centuries is permanently exhibited. It is full of tools and instruments that were used during that time and shows the typical costumes of Mojácar.
